Tech Tips

Regular Maintenance

Schedule professional HVAC maintenance at least twice a year-once before the cooling season and once before the heating season. A certified technician is able to detect and prevent any issues that could lead to costly problems, keeping your system running efficiently throughout the year.

Change Your Air Filters Regularly

Clogged air filters can make airflow limited, making your HVAC system work harder by expelling more energy. Check your air filters every 30 days and replace them every 1-3 months depending on usage and the kind of filter being used.

Make use of a Programmable Thermostat.

A programmable or smart thermostat will allow you to set certain temperature schedules, reducing energy consumption when you are not home. Most modern thermostats can be controlled remotely with smartphone apps for flexibility and savings.

Seal Air Leaks

Check your house for air leaks around the windows, doors, and ductwork. Seal the gaps with weatherstripping or caulk to help keep the conditioned air inside. Proper insulation can drastically lessen the burden on your HVAC system.

Clean Vents and Registers

Clogged vents and registers restrict airflow, making heating or cooling inconsistent. Ensure that they are free from dust, debris, and other objects such as furniture or curtains that may block airflow.

Keep the Outdoor Unit Clean

The outdoor condenser unit is the lifeline of your HVAC system. Leaves, dirt, and other debris that collect around the unit reduce airflow and may lead to overheating.

Replace with Energy-Efficient Equipment

If your HVAC system is more than 10–15 years old, consider replacing it with an energy-efficient one. Not only do new models run on minimal energy consumption, but they also come with great, innovative features which will enhance the level of comfort and convenience.

Be Aware of Unusual Noises or Odors

Any unusual noises or smells emanating from the HVAC system may be indicative of potential problems. Address these signs immediately through calling a professional to prevent further damage.
